Each monthly meeting is part WOK business and part writing workshop. And first-time visitors are always welcome.
Our writing workshops feature speakers from around the world—like published authors & screenwriters, editors, agents looking to sign new writers, photojournalists, poets, marketing specialists, and even motivational speakers.
Speakers share their expertise, experience, and industry insights to help our guests and members reach their highest writing and publishing goals.

You’re Invited to Our Next Writing Workshop
Pop in at one of our monthly meetings/workshops to see what Writers of Kern is all about.
Not a member? No problem! We’d love to have you.
- When: The 3rd Saturday of the month, 9:15-11:15 am. Join us 30 minutes early for breakfast and writer’s fellowship, January, February, April and June-November.
- Where: Hodel’s Country Dining, 5917 Knudsen Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93308.
- Fee: $10 for members, $15 for guests. Both include buffet breakfast. Pay at the door or skip the line and pay online.
