Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: August 2026
Our Commitment
Writers of Kern is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. As a nonprofit organization serving writers in our community, we want all members and visitors — regardless of ability or the technology they use to browse the web — to be able to fully participate in what we offer.
Conformance Status
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the most widely accepted standard for web accessibility. This site is currently undergoing an active accessibility review and update, and some pages or elements may not yet fully conform while this work is underway.
Measures We’ve Taken
This site is built on WordPress using the Genesis Framework, which provides some accessibility features by default. Steps we’ve taken or are actively completing include:
- “Skip to navigation” and “skip to main content” links for keyboard users
- A site design that supports full keyboard (tab) navigation
- A responsive layout that adapts to phones, tablets, and different browser zoom levels
- An in-progress, page-by-page review to add descriptive alternative text to images across the site
- A broader accessibility review currently underway, covering heading structure, color contrast, and additional keyboard/screen-reader checks
We expect this round of updates to be substantially complete within the next few weeks.
Known Limitations
We are in the process of auditing and updating this site’s accessibility, including adding alternative text to images and reviewing other elements for full compliance. Some pages may not yet reflect these updates.

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this site. If you encounter a barrier, or a page or feature that doesn’t work well with the assistive technology you use, please let us know:
